Castles of Vojvodina - departure from Novi Sad

Start with a visit to the Kovilj Monastery, which was according to the legend built by Saint Sava, the illuminator of Serbian people. The other legend says that it was built by Serbian king Dragutin.

 

A castle built by a nobleman, Lazar Agoston as a feudal castle on the bank of Begej River in Ecka is your next stop. At the opening ceremony even Count Esterhazy was present, and Franz Liszt, the wunderkind, played.

 

Enjoy the walk in the beautiful special reserve of nature in Carska Bara. See many species of herbal and animal kingdom inhabited here. Delicious lunch awaits you in an Ethno house which has a mini zoo to wonder through after the meal.

 

Afterwards, you are taken to another castle in Becej. The castle is called Fantast, and it got its name after a stallion from castle's stud farm. Besides the stud farm, the castle has a big park, swimming pool made of solid rock, and a chapel. Legend of its founder still lives and our guide will tell you the story of Bogdan Dundjerski and the three loves in his life - women, wine and horses. Here you will have enough free time to wonder round the manor and find interesting things by yourselves, like the tomb of Inquisitor - a world famous horse, small chapel and many more.
