Located in Europe with relatively low prices and so many interesting things to offer, Serbia will be a very successful tourist destination in the near future. "Because of the crisis during '90s, Serbia wasn't a popular destination for tourism and for lot of people it is still undiscovered. Contrary to the current world economic crisis, this year was very successful for tourism in Serbia. The main reason for the increasing number of tourists every year is it's location, and pure tourist potential of exciting sites, friendly people and it's customs, preserved nature, and low prices. With knowledge and experience we can present true Serbian treasures, including the preserved and undiscovered nature, and the diversity of customs and culture of more than twenty five multi-ethnic groups."
What We Do for Sustainable Tourism
Our company is trying to work and cooperate with professional and responsibly local partners who are trying to provide a quality service and protect the environment. Our motto is to give a true pleasure for all visitors and chance to see, hear, feel and taste all the sites and flavors of Serbia. Tourists can also meet and get more familiar with the local people and their customs. All the tourists who are interested in domestic skills can learn them from the locals and in the same time help them to protect their way of life.
We are the first organization in Serbia that start with the promotion and development of birdwatching tourism. After founding NGO Visit Vojvodina we started with programs for responsible and sustainable management of protected natural resources. We have created birdwatching tours with the goal of trying to protect their habitats and also organized the 1st Birdwatching Tourism Conference in Vojvodina on the 8th of December 2008.
We have also created Cluster Istar21 for development and education of local societies alond the Danube in Serbia. By education of multiethnic groups we are trying help the locals and protect their way of life. We are also trying to help not only the local community but we also to donate to organizations like Unicef, IAAS (International Association of Agricultural Students), Josif Pancic Institute, and The National Ornithology Society.
By joining whl.travel, we hope that we can share experiences with all MPO's, so we can together upgrade our promotion of destinations and products to all responsible tourists in the world. We look forward to welcome travellers to see and experience Belgrade, the vibrant capital of Serbia, and former capital of Yugoslavia. To really ensure that travellers to Serbia experience something truly Serbian, we also welcome you to let us show you the whole of Serbia, not just Belgrade, but the beautiful northern province of Vojvodina with its charming villages, and even more charming wine and Rakia (Serbian plum brandy).
Who We Are
Our general manager Biljana Marceta is a true nature admirer and pioneer in incoming tourism in Serbia. By opening Magelan in 1994, and creating the first on-line system for booking accommodation, incoming tours and activities, she has been contributing to sustainable tourism development by promoting her destinations and educating the locals. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading books about history, photography or discovering new interesting destinations.
