Weather in Belgrade

Belgrade is blessed with a moderate continental climate that is divided into four seasons. The weather in Belgrade is marked by a short and rainy spring while autumn has sunny, warm stretches also known as Indian summer. Winter is not very severe with only about 21 days recording below zero temperatures. January records average temperatures of 0.1 °C, making it the coldest month. Since spring is short, summer appears to arrive a little unexpectedly.

Average annual temperatures hover around 11.7 °C. July is the hottest month with 22.1 °C, while the lowest recorded temperature in Belgrade was 26.2 °C below zero, in 1893. The highest temperatures recorded were in 1921 and in 1946 - about 41.80C. In the period between the years 1888 to 1995, only six days recorded temperatures of over 40 °C. The tropical days in a year - when average temperatures recorded are higher than 30 °C - number 31, while summer days - when average temperatures recorded are higher 250C - number 95.

Košava - a southeast-east wind, blows mainly during autumn and winter, bringing with it clear and dry weather. It mostly blows in 2-3 day intervals, with an average speed of 25-43 km/h but can go up to 130 km/h at times. The Košava is a typical characteristic of the weather in Belgrade and helps to keep the air clean.

Belgrade city and the surrounding area record an average annual rainfall of 669.5 mm. May and June record the heaviest rainfall.
